Our Purpose

To create and implement a comprehensive plan for the recreational future of our community and ensure it remains viable and sustainable for future generations. The community in and around Monroe are the primary beneficiaries of the MRP. This project provides important recreational amenities that build on Monroe’s ability to retain and attract residents. The MRP would serve as a catalyst for our local economy by attracting financial investment and business opportunities. Our park will meet the immediate needs of our city and provide services for generations to come.

Upcoming Fundraising Events
"Take me out the ballpark"October 2009
Join us at the site of the new park and walk the grounds. Reading about the project doesn’t do it justice. Try out the parking lot, walk the fields, look our across Monroe and imagine how much this will add to the beauty and social interactions of our community. Partake in the events planned to help raise money and by summers end you may see fencing, bases and a concession stand. It’s within our reach and walking the grounds really brings it home.
2nd Annual Family Fun NightFebruary 2010
A great time was had by everyone who attended last years dinner, concert and auction to raise money for MRP. Over $11,000 was raised that night and we want to top that in 2009.

we invite you to join us
The need for a multi-use recreation park in Monroe has been discussed for over two decades. The Monroe Recreation Park (MRP) Board and committees represent diverse sectors of our community and a wide range of demographics. Monroe Recreation Park
Numerous Benefits
In today’s demanding and hectic society, everyone needs time to explore their own personal sense of well-being. Health studies have shown that immeasurable positive physical and psychological benefits result from participating in recreational opportunities in the form of fitness, organized sports, active living, park activities and quality time with family and friends. Our children and grandchildren learn and develop motor skills, social skills and creativity through play. Our teenagers will develop healthy self-esteem by being involved in sports activities. Leisure and recreational activities lead to healthy individuals, welladjusted families and a healthier community.
